Welcome and Introductions
- THST welcomed VV to his first meeting with the group. VV and THST discussed the history of THST as a supporter organisation and its relationship with the Club.
- THST cited examples of past and more recent fan-related issues that the group have campaigned for on behalf of supporters. THST’s approach to these issues and any dealings with the Club are mandated by their members. THST and its members recognise the value in having constructive dialogue with the Club.
- VV expressed the importance of a Supporters’ Trust being a critical friend. Both parties acknowledged the significance of constructive dialogue, particularly in moments and areas where there are disagreements or differences of opinion.
Club and THST Memorandum of Understanding
- The Club and THST agreed that no revisions were required to the MOU. VV was interested in how THST works in conjunction with the FAB, and how the group communicates with the wider fan base. THST were satisfied the processes between THST and FAB were working effectively
- THST played a key-role in the creation of the FAB and engages with the football governance initiatives, which included contributing their views and experiences formally to the Government’s Fan-Led Review.
- THST believes the FAB provides supporters with an additional opportunity for engagement with the Club and VV was pleased to hear that both groups work collaboratively and have a good relationship.
- THST confirmed their position on the FAB is to represent the interests of all supporters, as THST is a democratic supporters’ organisation that is independent of the Club. It also campaigns on issues affecting supporters at both Club level and nationwide, working with the FSA as one of its affiliate members.
- Additionally, THST is a Community Benefit Society, and holds a variety of events throughout the season for THST members, including quiz nights and ad hoc events.
THSTs Five Principles of Ownership and End of Season Report
- THST provided an overview of their Five Principles of Ownership, following the Club’s endorsement of the principles in a previous meeting in February 2025.
- THST said the Five Principles are a useful metric to understand the views of THST’s membership and it was clear members support continued dialogue with the Club.
- VV stated that the wider fanbase will continue to hear from the Board and senior staff at points throughout the year.
- VV confirmed that he had read THST’s survey results and that the Club is fully committed to the Five Principles. The scores are lower than where the Club would wish them to be. VV is still very new in the role and is taking the time to learn as much as possible about the inner workings of the Club, its staff, and the issues that are most important to fans.
- THST said that fans feel the Club is not sufficiently focused on football or winning. VV explained that football is the Club’s priority, and everyone wants to see the Club win, while respecting the traditions and history of the Club. The Premier League is the most competitive league in the world but if you don’t have the ambition to win the highest honours and the plan to do so, you will not get there.
- THST and the Club discussed fans concerns and the complexities around transfers in top flight football. It was also noted that Johan Lange, Technical Director, met with the FAB in March to discuss the Club’s recruitment policy, including identifying young talent. THST gave context to supporter worries about the perceived lack of signing experienced players who would immediately strengthen the first team / squad. THST also highlighted previous windows where the Club did not sign any players.
- VV said the Club knows fans want to see their team moving in an upward trajectory each season and to believe their team can win. Ultimately fans want to be proud of their football club. THST agreed that, for fans, having a sense of pride about your Club is vitally important, and there should be a feeling of shared endeavour for Spurs to succeed – Board, staff and supporters. Supporters also need to feel that there is a consistent plan being followed regarding football strategy.
- One of the key motivations in VV joining the Club was to work alongside Daniel Levy who he has known for many years.
- THST expressed that Season Ticket Holders want to feel valued by the Club and THST felt the Club could do more to ensure loyalty is recognised, citing their concerns with recent changes to Ticket Share, senior concession Season Tickets and the Automatic Cup Scheme (since reinstated).
- THST wanted to place on record its thanks to the Club for some of the positive supporter initiatives during the 2024/25 season, which were included in their End of Season Report. THST and the Club discussed some of these points in more detail including, collaborations with THFC Flags on matchday atmosphere, praise for the Club’s engaging social media content, the Spurs: In Memoriam supporter tribute video, the Club’s action on ticketing touting for the Liverpool away match and the work THST and the Club do together to support the experience of individual fans who raise queries or concerns to us. There remain, however, areas for improvement, as set out in the THST End of Season Report and THST will continue to act as a critical friend to support the Club with these.
Meeting ends.
