Important information for Spurs fans travelling to Stamford Bridge on Sunday

Ahead of our upcoming away game at Stamford Bridge, THFC has issued some important information about fan behaviour at the match. We urge supporters to take note of this, and we are setting out the facts here for clarity.

The Crown Prosecution Service considers that the use of “rent boys” is a homophobic slur and a hate crime. The CPS has indicated that it is prepared to prosecute supporters using this term, and the Football Association has indicated that it could impose sanctions on THFC. Fans need to be extremely clear about the potential consequences of using the term.

We’ve always favoured education over sanction, and we are wary of moves to criminalise fan behaviour. On that basis, we advise fans to read the statement from the Proud Lilywhites about the impact using this term has on LGBTQ+ supporters. And to note that THFC considers the use of the term to be incompatible with the values of the Club.

We want supporting our Club to be a positive and inclusive experience for everyone, and we want our support to be noticed for positive reasons.

Enjoy the game on Sunday and as always, Come on You Spurs.
