The Trust is campaigning the Club to reverse recent ticket price increases and senior concession changes as part of our #StopExploitingLoyalty campaign that started in 2023 following the announcement of the increase in general match tickets. The Club’s decisions and policies regarding ticketing have the most significant impact on our most loyal supporters. There is no better way to understand this than to hear from those supporters themselves.
Stephen Swift went to his first game in 1964 and saw Jimmy Greaves score the only goal. He now has a senior ticket in the South Stand which he chose specifically after the return from Wembley.
“I’m a 70 year old supporter and was hooked even before my first live game – Spurs v Bolton in 1964 at which Jimmy Greaves scored the only goal. Over the years, even though I played a lot of football myself, I always attended as many games as possible. Ive been soaked, frozen, locked out, attacked, suffered train strikes, missed family scelebrations etc, Spent thousands of pounds travelling to home games, and around the country, but I always felt it was worth it.”
“I belonged to a family of unknowns but we all had one thing in common, we loved the Club. It’s not always been great football but I never felt that it wasn’t worthwhile. When we relocated to Wembley and then back to White Hart Lane, the chance arose to get a season ticket and I bagged one. Fantastic! Due to the low availability of concession tickets upon application, I am a fair way up the South Stand. Is it hard to get to the seat? Yes it is (maybe defibrillators at the top of the stand would be an idea); However, will I keep doing it? Of course I will (until I can’t afford it) because I, like many others, know there is only one place to be on match day and that’s inside the stadium.”
“It’ll be a sad day when I can no longer attend games through no fault of my own. When I read that people of my standing i.e. loyal supporters who have been coming for years, are now to be penalised for being older it screamed ageism. 50% senior concessions should be left alone indefinitely. I am appalled at the way the Club is riding roughshod over the very people who have played a large part in keeping this club going through thick, and of late, mainly thin. I also believe that 6% is, for the majority of supporters, unacceptable. We’re supposed to be a family. I’d hate to live in a family where the older members are neglected to the point of not being wanted unless they have a fat wallet.”
The Trust believes the Club is exploiting the loyalty of Fans like Tony. Only as a united fan base can we convince the Club to reverse its decision. If you’d like to contribute to this campaign, send us your reaction to the recent announcements via info@thstofficial.com.
