The Trust is campaigning the Club to reverse recent ticket price increases and senior concession changes as part of our #StopExploitingLoyalty campaign that started in 2023 following the announcement of the increase in general match tickets. The Club’s decisions and policies regarding ticketing have the most significant impact on our most loyal supporters. There is no better way to understand this than to hear from those supporters themselves.
Tim Shepherd emailed the club and THST to share his frustrations with not only the recent announcement to remove senior concessions but the challenges he’s had with his senior concession ticket over the years.
“In 1985, I started to take my son to watch the Spurs, as a member of the North, stand behind the home goal. In 2005, I got a season ticket in East Upper, and three years later, I moved to West Lower due to a heart condition. When I applied for my Senior concession, five years after I could have done so, I was disgusted to find I had to relocate to a different area and move away from friendships built up over the years. Many of these friends as loyal supporters are now reaching the time when they too will be eligible for senior concessions but this option has now been taken away from them.”
“Furthermore, the year on year percentage discount reduction is going to have a significant impact on pensioners already struggling to make ends meet and who remain loyal to supporting the football club.”
“Given that the club’s argument for a 6% rise in prices is due to increased costs, it seems slightly specious when the club argues that it is energy self-sufficient, and caterers had already increased their prices. As a point of information, does this mean that the in-house brewery is running at a loss and the club gains no benefit?”
“Finally, the late announcement of these changes to the people who matter the most can only leave the impression that the board now only see the club as a global entertainment cash cow and that the football club per se has very little place in its business strategy.”
The Trust believes the Club is exploiting the loyalty of Fans like Tony. Only as a united fan base can we convince the Club to reverse its decision. If you’d like to contribute to this campaign, send us your reaction to the recent announcements via info@thstofficial.com
