Meet the Podcasters night.
Despite the best efforts of the rail network, which saw Theo (The Spurs Show), Ricky (Last Word on Spurs), and Franco (The Cheese Room) — along with all our fantastic attendees — bravely navigate tube and train strikes, our ‘Meet The Podcasters’ event was a resounding success.
The hardiness and dedication of the podcasters, along with every fan who made the effort, set the tone for a truly enjoyable evening. In a quiet international week, it was nice to focus on the Spurs, and lots of passionate debate on ownership changes, Thomas Frank’s plans and the fallout from the summer transfer window was dissected with great humour by the panel—a massive thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such a vibrant and positive event. Your dedication is truly what makes the Spurs community special, and we were delighted that a significant sum was raised on the night for Legends on the Bench.
Update on the Fan Advisory Board
The Fan Advisory Board met on 9 September 2025. The report and minutes of the meeting have been published on the Club’s website and can be found here.
The September meeting would ordinarily have been attended by Daniel Levy, as Chairman of the Club, but this meeting came a few days after his surprise departure. The Club was represented at the Board level at the meeting by Vinai Venkatesham, Chief Executive Officer, and Matthew Collecott, Operations and Finance Director. The Club’s Non-Executive Chairman has committed to attending the next FAB meeting in December.
A couple of days earlier, the Club had issued a statement rejecting two bids to buy THFC. Vinai reiterated that the Club is not for sale and emphasised that he was speaking on behalf of the Lewis family, who are committed to the Club.
The FAB welcomed Vinai’s commitment to fan engagement and the improved and more regular communication from the Board and senior club representatives. There was a presentation and discussion on supporter initiatives to enhance fan engagement, communication, matchday atmosphere and honouring the heritage of the Club.
The adverse and unpopular changes to Ticket Share were once again discussed, as were senior concession Season Tickets. A meeting to discuss those issues has been arranged between the Club and a joint group of THST and FAB representatives. We shall be pressing for positive changes to benefit fans and will report back following that meeting.
The meeting also discussed support for the “Together Against Suicide” initiative, an update on the work of the Atmosphere Working Group, heritage items, the Club’s summer tour plans, next year’s FAB elections and the forthcoming meeting of THST and other fan representatives with the Shadow Regulator, who is preparing the ground for the full implementation of the Football Governance Act.
Meeting with the new Independent Football Regulator
At the end of this month, Trust representatives met with the new Independent Football Regulator (IFR) and representatives from other Spurs supporter groups. We hope it bodes well for the future of football that the current shadow regulator (a term that describes the organisation until it is entirely up and running) is reaching out to fans and explaining to them what the IFR will, and will not, do.
It is worth communicating that the IFR is not expected to have any remit over Premier League rules, which include the Profit and Sustainability Rules. It may therefore have no impact on any outstanding charges under those Rules, nor may it be able to rule upon whether football clubs can raise income through selling constituent parts of themselves to group companies, for example.
What the IFR will do, however, is require all professional football clubs to be licensed by the IFR and therefore to follow a new rule book. This will cover fundamental aspects of any football club, such as the location of the stadium, club colours, the competitions they participate in, and who owns them.
On this final point, the IFR will require prospective new owners of a football club to pass a ‘fit and proper person’ test. We don’t yet know the details of this test, but we do expect it to be a tougher test than that currently applied by the Premier League.
The licence will also require compliance with ongoing conditions in three broad areas: (1) finance; (2) fan consultation and engagement; and (3) corporate governance. We can expect to see reporting from every club against these areas on an annual basis. Perhaps the IFR will also report periodically on the state of the game and its regulatory work.
Local pub brought back to life
We are thrilled to announce the reopening of The Elmhurst Pub on Lordship Lane, following its closure for the past three years.
The new landlord, Neil, has been working extremely hard to bring this thriving pub back to life, and we visited to take a look around and were very impressed!
